So my girlfriend got a puppy chihuahua on sunday (Ralphy) and he decided he could fly and jumped off the couch last night injuring his paw. We took him to the vet and got x-rays and he fractured 2 fingers (so to speak). They put a splint/cast that covers his half his leg and all the way around his foot and has to be in it for 5 to 6 weeks. I think he is going to be fine but my girlfriend is worried that it could have long term effects or maybe cause him to be depressed for a couple weeks. Anything i should keep an eye out for or be worried about? Anything helps.
Thank you!!
Back story: Myself and my partner are now living together, we're both 20, I have a very stable well paid job and we're not going to be moving or changing for a considerable amount of time. My partner suffers from depression and is a student at home at the moment and will work freelance after this. We both LOVE dogs and have found a nice dog who is content sitting around during the day and having his walks in the evening. He is a real softie and we're really happy with him. However, we know we can afford it, we love the principle and are happy with the commitment, but we're just worried about feeling 'tied down' - we're not sure if we're overthinking it? TL;DR If you're young (say under-25) and own a dog, how has it impacted your life? Do you feel tied down? TIA.
