Name the best book wholely or partially about dogs, fiction or non-fiction, you read this year.
Me first, Moral Justice - Marc Bekoff & Jessica Pierce
So my SO and I think our dog ate 3 fully cooked breakfast sized sausage links today. Should we worry?
I never had a dog before and my family got a new three years old puppy. We keep him in a pen for the night and about half of the day (he needs constant supervision or he will try to eat anything. And he's not fully house trained yet.
I'm worried that we're keeping him in his pen for too long. He has many chew toys, a bed, plenty of water. He sometimes cries for attention. Not always though.
How long is too long?
Also (since my family never had a dog) we hired a trainer and he's supposed to come Monday, but until then I'm afraid that we're hurting him.
Hi- This is a two part question: Our 7 mo GS mix is a rescue dog from Mexico. We've had her about 5 weeks. She seems pretty happy in our home, is house breaking well, and is generally sweet. BUT she keeps nipping and play biting (not aggressively or in anger) but more to get attention from us - hubby and I can handle it but it scares the kids when she nips at them. And her teeth are sharp AF. How do we get this to stop?
She will also growl if someone/anyone tries to pet or hug her if she is laying down and resting - this is new. We told the kids to back off if she is doing that but when it's bed time and she needs to go to her crate, hubby lures her with small pieces of chicken to get her to go in. Seems to be working but the growling...is this normal? Can we train her to not do that?
