Please help me to select my first dog

Hi

I have always wanted a dog, and hopefully my dream can come true in 2019, the only problem is that I do not know what breed of dog is suitable for me. Initially I wanted a Labrador or Golden retriever, but they are a bit too big for me, so I was wandering what kinds of dog can you guys recommend to a beginner.

I live in a medium size apartment on the second floor.

I do not have a garden, but there is not a long way to walk if I want to walk in the woods.

Currently I am the only one who is going to take care of it, so I need a dog that can be alone at home for up to 10 hours a day.

I am 30 years with no kids, but I wold like it if it was kids friendly.

I live in Norway, so it also must be a breed that I can get here, but I can look them up when I get some recommendations.
