Need help with the breed of this dog!

My girlfriend got this dog from a sweet, old lady who found it on her door step. The lady couldn't take care of it since she had two bigger dogs, and no else one wanted him. We have googled endlessly and we are stumped as to what it is or mainly is (I think it's Heinz 57 with a dash of histories mysteries). Any ideas? He has a bare belly and his coat is fluffy, but also feels sort of coarse. Cheers.

#dog - #Daushund back brace suggestions

Daushund back brace suggestions

My mom has 2 ~10 y/o daushunds and as most people know they're incredibly prone to bad backs and hips. My mom's boy, Teddy, recently had something happen and he is having increasing difficulty using his back legs. He has been to the vet (who flat out refused to do imaging) has said the issue is inflammation on his spine causing the problem and to get a back brace before we do anything else. I've pressed my mom to go elsewhere and get imaging because it can much worse than the vet thinks (this is why I don't use that vet anymore incredibly sub par care) have any of you guys used a back brace for a daushund what kind of success did you have what brands do you recommend etc.

Thaaaanks!

#dog - #Help with Dog's Confusing Behavior

Help with Dog's Confusing Behavior

Hi everyone! Not sure where to begin but like the title says my dog has been displaying weird behavior as of late. I was hoping you guys could help with your thoughts about the issue and how to help fix it. We got our dog, Lola, as a puppy and since then everything has been smooth in training her and she has picked up on things very quickly. We potty trained her by having her ring some bells on our back door to inform us when she wants to go out. There has never been an issue of having her go outside and since she was a young pup has always loved it, always playing in grass and laying under bushes. However about a week and a half ago she started displaying odd behaviors of rarely ringing the bell to go out. At first we thought nothing of it because as she has grown so has her control of urges to go to the bathroom. However as time has progressed (the past 3-4 days) she has started going to the bathroom, mostly poop it seems, upstairs. This is odd behavior because she has not done so since we strictly trained her not to (we prevented her from going upstairs and repeatedly enforced the bell=outside with praise). It worked well and she is very smart and always has had a good memory so she picked up quickly and stuck to it not having another accident til this week like mentioned before. Not only does she not ring the bell to go outside but even if we go out she doesnt run out like she used to do and seems to avoid the grass and bushes that she loved before only sticking to the brick patio. I do not know what happened within such a small window of time for her behavior to switch so drastically. More background would be we have had an AC repair and replacement and have a bathroom redone but thats about the only "out of normal" situations that changed. We stopped her from going upstair around her being 5 months to 6months for the upstairs training. Shes now 10 months and just now did it again but even now it seems like she understands because when confronted she goes to her usual punishment area and lays down until we get her with no resistance. Also she eats two meals a day and drinks a good amount of water per day so I do not believe its a dietary issue. Im confused and worried please help any suggestions for what it could be and how to help her are appreciated. Thanks again

Calming down an excited dog?

Hey guys, brand new owner here.

Just want to start off by saying; owning a dog is awesome. Feels nice to get greeted when i get from work, and i just love how the dog is ALWAYS happy to see me.

One minor problem that i encountered with this doggo is that, whenever he gets suuuper excited / pumped to see me, he lunges / jumps up at me. Not gonna lie. It REALLY hurts hahaha. (his nails are trimmed) and it does damage cloths too.

Not even the worst part, he gets really really mouthy. And hes a big dog, so its not just cute little nibbles here and there, it breaks skin (not to a point where im bleeding out, but there is scratches and blood).

Anyone else have this problem..?? Easy fix? or even a fix in general..?

Thanks in advance everyone

#dog - #What is it like to own a dog?

What is it like to own a dog?

I suffer from depression and mixed anxiety. Over the years I've come to learn how to work through it but there are some days when things just get a little too much. I often feel alone even though I'm surrounded by friends and family. My boyfriend suggested I get a dog to keep me company and occupied on my days off. I just want to know what it's like being the owner of a dog and if anyone can provide insight on how hard puppyhood is.

I'm a 21 year old student who works in retail. I attend uni about 2 times a week for 3 hours. Uni is a 20 minute train ride from home. Retail position is causal but I often get around 4 shifts that are 5 hours long throughout the week. Apart from work and uni, I'm home with my family pretty much all the time. Mum and dad work, my sister is in high school and I have a little brother who's 5. I know both of them would love for a pet dog as well. I'm worried about the period during puppy hood and if I need to be home 24/7 for a while.

I'm severally sensitive to things so I need a hypoallergenic dog, one that doesn't shed fur as mum is an extreme clean freak. I'm also after a breed which doesn't get big and stays relatively small throughout its life.

So to sum everything up, here are my questions for you: 1. What's the best thing about owning a dog

  1. On average how long does it take to train and potty train a dog

  2. What are some of the costs that comes with owning a dog?

  3. What breeds of dog suit my needs

Thankyou!!! I'm excited for responses and potentially having a new pal in my life
