I have a blind-untrained-spoiled rotten 10 year old female Pekingese, and I just moved into an apartment out of a house.
It took her awhile to get adjusted to the new apartment, but for the most part she has adjusted well. She rarely backs inside, unless someone is right outside my door.
However, walking her [or should I say carrying the princess & putting her down in the grass] is a nightmare so far. She barks at any little noise, but reallllyy loses her mind if she hears other humans or dogs barking. It isn't vicious or growling, just a steady (annoying) bark, even after they are long gone.
I know the lack of eyesight is a huge contributing factor, but it only worsened this problem, since she's pretty much always done this.
My complex is big & very busy, so it isn't often I walk her without her barking. I've adjusted the times to when it is less busy, and I always take her to the same spot, in hopes she becomes familiar with it, but does anyone have any tips for the barking?
I've been trying to train her inside the apartment with the normal commands & breaking her focus when she does bark, so i can apply this outside as well, but apparently she has selective hearing too lol.
Open to any and all tips, besides a shock collar?!
How much dog food do you feed your pit? My vet told me to only give him 2 cups a day and he has been losing a lot of weight. He is 8 years old and was never heavy, he has some allergies but the vet was vague. Was feeding him dry switch to homemade and feed him 2.5 lbs a day lost weight and then switched to can for a day and a little dry. Thinking about going back to dry food so brands would be appreciated as well thanks
