#dog - #Degenerative Mylopia?

Degenerative Mylopia?

I live with my younger sister and our single parent mother. My sister was declared primary owner of our pets, one male and one female german shepherds, so she could learn some responsibility with caring for animals. Shes had them for three years. Recently, one of the shepherds suddenly lost the use of their hind legs. My sister, like myself, had no idea what happened. She witnessed it, and it 'seemed degenerative' because the dog slowly could not stand minute by minute, wayward walking until absolutely nothing.

I assumed it was a spinal disease called Degenerative Mylopia after researching, i think is thats name. My sister disagreed. My sister decided, she would give the dog 1 week to gain back the use of its hind legs or the dog has to be killed because she has no time to take care of a disabled, is her thinking. During the one week, she did not bathe the dog, it defacated on itself several times, and all my sister did was wrap the dogs lower half in a cloth and says "what you want me to do?!"

A week past. The dog never got back the use of its hind legs and my sister called her step father to bring lethal poison for the dog to drink. Her and her father (because she has a different father), dug a hole and buried the dog. I was not at home at that point in time and when I got home, she explained to be she "wasn't gonna go through that" with regards to taking care of a disabled animal, and because the dog did not squirm in the last moments of death while being forced to drink poison, my sister believes the dog "wanted to die".

This may sound ridiculous but it did happen. I'm sorry that it seemed rushed I wanted to get the most important parts out.

Aside from all of that happenimg, and more unmentioned, I feel like I could have done more too. Despite her being the primary owner, to feed, bath and take care of the dogs, I feel I could have done something because it's very sad and terrible how it all happened. Please leave your opinion. Should my sister have pets at all after thus experience?

Dogs love riding in the car but how can you get rid of 'dog smell' in the car?

We all adore our pets, and maybe when they stink it doesn't bother us too much because we accept them unconditionally. But don't worry, they won't be offended if you want to eliminate their odors from your car.

I will share two tips in case you are facing the same issue:

  1. Aerosol sprays, plug-in air fresheners or scented candles won't work as we expect, they will add a strong smell in order to cover up the unwanted one. Besides, they contain a number of toxic chemicals that can be dangerous for you and your pet's health.
  2. The most effective products are made of Activated Bamboo Charcoal. That's a safe and natural way to get rid of pet odors and contaminants in the surrounding air. I really noticed the difference when I tried Threegether Car Air Purifier. And although it says "car", it also works in your home. It takes a few days to notice the changes, but the results are very impressive!

I hope you will find this information useful!

#dog - #Has anyone dealt with BVS in small dogs?

Has anyone dealt with BVS in small dogs?

Has anyone dealt with chronic bilious vomiting syndrome in small dogs? As I have been dealing with this for 4 years I feel like a vet (and have spent enough on the vet that I could've probably afforded to become one myself lol, kidding). Just wondering if anyone else has a dog with it because I sometimes feel quite alone with regards to having a pet with this chronic condition, no other pet owner I talk to has dealt with it or has even heard of dogs having it. For my girl, the BVS tends to be more of the issue as her upper GI is most affected (she did have HGE in summer 2017 and that prompted another diagnosis of IBD as well, but the BVS is long-standing since she was a pup). My vet and her staff are incredibly helpful of course but it'd be nice to know I am not the only one. My vet says it is absolutely not breed specific but smaller dogs tend to be more affected. My girl is on long-term medication as well as additional supplements and a hypo diet including kibble, canned, and treats and she is doing incredibly well on it.
