Our 8 yr old lab is suddenly howling whenever we leave, despite having not done so for years. We adopted him when he was 3 and noticed he had separation anxiety and would howl mournfully when we left, but the problem was solved with a combination of measures: He is regularly exercised, medicated when we leave, he has a buddy (a younger miniature schnauzer with whom he gets along great), and is kept in a kennel. All of this worked for 4 years. We even have a recording device that we use to ensure it is. Just in the past month the howling has returned. He is fine when we're home, the vet has confirmed he's not sick, and nothing about our lifestyle has changed. Any idea why the separation anxiety has suddenly become inflamed again or advice on how to handle this? We don't want him (or our neighbors) to suffer every time we leave.
It's been over 36 hours and our fully grown dog refuses to use the bathroom. He's fully potty trained but simply refuses to use the restroom. He won't even sniff the ground, or even go in the house. I don't know what to do, we've tried everything and we just want him to use the bathroom, even if it's in the house... Any ideas...
