#dog - #$800 too high of a quote for a neuter?
$800 too high of a quote for a neuter?
Hi all,
I have an 80 lbs, 12 month old chocolate lab who we are neutering soon. We were trying to wait until 12-months but he is out of control with the "hormonal" behaviors.
We were quoted nearly $800 from a vet to do the procedure:
- Pre-anesthesia panel: $164
- Procedural fluids: $142
- Neuter package: $275
- Anesthesia monitor: $100
- Pain injection/analgesic: $50
- Post op pain meds (Rimadyl): $42 for 10
- Biohazard fee: $10
- Post op laser: $17
We are in the DC area, so I understand that cost of living may be influencing this cost, but just wanted a second opinion!
Thanks!

#dog - #How do I make my dog a nibbler?
How do I make my dog a nibbler?
My golden retriever (charlie) is a bit over a year old, he lives with this 9 year old cockapoo named bella (cocker spaniel poodle mix). When he was younger he was a nibbler, only eating a small bit every once in a while. But bella would always eat his food because she's a gobbler, we tried raising his food up so she couldn't reach it, but that didn't work, so we put his boal right next to hers so that he would be pressured into eating it all. But now that we've found a dog bowl riser that's high enough to only let charlie eat from it, we want him to be a nibbler again. But he's turned into a gobbler. So how do I make him a nibbler again?
