#dog - #Last Day Recommendations

Last Day Recommendations

Hi everyone,

On Saturday we're putting my beautiful 16 year-old poodle down due to health complications.

We love her so so dearly and it hurts so much, although we know its best for her.

Tomorrow, I'm spending the day with her and want to give her as much love and attention as possible.

As I've grown up with her, I've never really had a 'last day' with a pet, and I know when people talk about their dogs last day, they love to spoil them with treats and things they usually weren't allowed.

Does anyone have any recommendations on things I can do/give her to make it extra special? Or tips on what not to do?

Obviously want her to be as comfortable as possible and not cause her body too much stress.

Any suggestions/advice would be appreciated.

Can pot make my puppy crazy?

I have a 6 mo old pomsky. My neighbors smoke pot and other smoke varieties practically every day. Because my apartment building is a bit old, the stench just lingers for hours and hours. My landlord put up a warning sign and even threatened eviction to no avail. I can smell it inside my apartment. My puppy is unusually hyper. How does second hand smoke affect dogs?

GSD throwing up. help!

I have a German Shepherd that was on a raw diet. Everything was fine until he was 7 months old. All of a sudden, he would regurgitate his food almost immediately after feeding. This happen for multiple days. He was switched to a bland diet (rice and cooked meat) but he would still regurgitate after a few hours. His bowel movements were fine.

After taking him to a clinic, he got x-rays and they eliminated blockage & esophagus complications. At this point he was severely lethargic. We also realized that his regurgitation would only happen after drinking water, which he seemed to do in larger quantities than normal. We monitored his water intake.

He developed a heavy cough and nasal discharge. Another visit to the clinic and he got put on antibiotics for pre- pneumonia. The antibiotics helped and he was back to normal for the 2 weeks prescription plus another week. He was now eating kibble (orijen) and drinking water normally.

A few days ago, he started throwing up again.

Medicine prescribed:

Famotidine (for gastric juices)
Sucralfate (for nausea)
Doxycycline (antibiotics)

Any help???

Scary visitor! He crashed through my blinds, middle of the night.

This is what I get for keeping my window open. I don't know this dog but thankfully he was friendly! I took these after scrambling to untangle him from my (now destroyed) blinds. Gave me a proper heart attack.

Link is a shot of said blinds, and a clearer one of my impromptu guest.

#dog - #Flying with French Bulldog, do you recommend?

Flying with French Bulldog, do you recommend?

hello everyone, I have a 2 year old french bulldog. As many dog owners can relate, we are so attached to each other.

Here's a life obstacle i'm personaly facing:

I am from Canada, Montreal and in the process of moving to Taiwan for a TESL job (teaching english as a foreign language) for summer 2019. There's 2-3 different aircrafts from Air Canada that will allow having my dog in the cabin with me but once I would take a second aircraft (layover) dogs are only allowed in the cargo .

I am stuck on what to do and scared of risking that my dog can die in the cargo. The flight will need to be like this:

Montreal -> Vancouver -> Asian Country -> Taiwan..

I am trying to find alternatives to not put my dog in the cargo (especially for 12 hours) but it is very difficult to find a way.

Based on the research i've done, the only way to have my dog with me at all times it's only if my dog was a service animal.

If there's no other way for me to bring her with me I have no choice then to leave my dog with my family (parents and brother) until I decide to ever go back home and visit for some time.

I'm trying to avoid flying with United Airlines after the many incidents that happened with people's pets.

Questions:

Does anyone have experience flying with their french bulldogs or flat face dogs?

Any way I could "break the rules" to make her fly with me in the cabin?

Full time workers - how do you make it work for your dog?

Recently single and work full time but I really want to make it work with my pooch. I'm seriously thinking about rehoming her because I don't know if what I can offer her is enough now, but if I can help it I would rather not. Can anyone give me any advice on how you manage working and giving your dog enough attention and company? I hate that she would be at home alone 5 days a week.
