Advice needed about breed selection.

Hello guys! I am a 22y.o. male, and with my SO we are moving in together in a few weeks. We have always wanted a dog when we moved in, and had the perfect dogbreed we both loved, the belgian shepherd. I mainly loved this breed because i would be able to to take it with me on my runs and our hikes, it would accompany me on my calistenics workout sessions and I wouldnt be afraid that it wouldnt be able to keep up with me. Here is the problem tho. We will move in an apartment, and it is highly likely that the dog would be left alone for 6 to 8 hours every day. I myself am a student working part time, my SO is in a similar situation. We would be able to take the dog out 2 times a day for an hour an a half each time, but I am afraid it would suffer indoors the remaining time. Am I right? I dont want my first dog to turn destructive because I fixated on a breed I thought fitted my lifestlye.

Any and all piece of advice is welcome!
