Red and his Recovery

A few years ago my dog began to limp. We were at my county fair doing agility and we did pretty good. We went back to my mom and dad and we all sat down in chairs. After the show when Red got out of his chair and I noticed he was limping. I told my mom and she said he might just be sore. A few months passed and he was still limping. We took him to the vet and they told us to keep him away from the other dogs and not let him go up stairs. They gave us painkillers to give to him time passed and he was still limping. We took him back and they told me to come back next week and they would do a X-ray. My mom took him back the next week and came home and said that he had inflammation on his rear knee. I was so worried! My mom said they said to keep him in pain meds and it would get better. Half a year passed and finally they said to take him to the MSU vet office because the local vet doesn't have the right equipment to help him. We took him there. It was an hour drive but I didn't mind as long as my baby was going to get better. They told us he had to have surgery and that he should stay with them for a week so they can keep and eye on him. My mom drove up half way threw the week to check up on him. She said that all the nurses loved him and would cuddle with him during thier breaks. I wa so happy to hear that. He was loved and he was happy! After a week passed he came back and had a cast on his foot. They also shaved his hind quarters. The cast was blue. He was on the cast for about two months then they took it back and he could start going on short walks!! We would walk him about once a week. Slowing we walked him more. Eventually, we took him up the stairs once a week! Slowly the walks got longer, and he is almost recovered. That is my TRUE story about my dog Red and his surgery.
