Hello! I was scrolling through reddit in search of some dog advice and this seemed the best spot. I'm currently pet sitting ( 3 birds, 3 cats, 3 kittens, 2 rabbits and 2 dogs). They are all sweethearts but the one dog has been giving me a hard time over his medication. He clearly misses his parents but whenever I get close to feed him his meds (which are wrapped in cheese) He refuses and growls. He needs to take his meds tonight and his parents aren't responding. A little advice?
I have a 3yo german shepherd who is always super excited and some would call him a bit wild. Today I wanted to play with him but he didn't seem excited at all. I play with him everyday in the park literally next to my house. He always goes absolutely crazy and jumps all around when I play with him. Recently he also started eating less and leaving some food in his bowl while he normally eats it at race speed.
Could there be something wrong with him?

My son's dog died a few months ago and we feel like it's a good time to consider adopting another. He and his Great Pyranese were best friends and did absolutely everything together. Ghost died of old age a few months ago and my 5 year old has been devastated. He just now has gotten to the point where he isn't bringing him up all the time. We just aren't sure which breeds would be good for an active 5 year old. Ghost was an amazing dog and we could never replace him. He guarded and loved our little boy tremendously. We're planning on adopting from a shelter. We just aren't sure which breeds or mixed breeds would be a good fit.
What we're looking for: Breed good with both dogs and cats, and extremely good with children. Size doesn't matter, but my son does like bigger dogs. He likes calmer animals and gets very irritated with our St. Bernard/Golden Retriever mix as he gets overexcited and knocks him down.
