My dog is an 18 month old border collie x whippet (50/50 split). I've had him since he was an 8 week pup. He is well behaved and knows sit, stay, come, leave, lay down, paw, speak etc. He walks perfectly on the leash in the house and yard, but take him outside and he looses all control. He won't listen to any commands or heel on leash. He used to go off leash until he was 6 months, then I couldn't trust him to come back. He has a flexi leash because I can't get his energy out with a normal lead. He doesn't care about treats or toys outside the house. He doesn't care about praise outside anyway. He pulls on collars, headcollars and harnesses (I've tried all kinds). He chokes himself to the point I hate walking him because he can't breathe. He loves dogs and people, I just don't know how to get him to listen. Inside a house or yard, he is perfect. I don't know how to train him outside?
Well it was really a Lyft.
A couple weeks ago my bf and I called a lyft home from the club. We were obviously very drunk. So the lyft driver starts asking us about dogs and if we like them. We're drunk and like "yeah of course we love dogs!" We have a 3 yr old Doberman and she's amaze.
Anyway, he asked if we were looking for a puppy and my bf asked, "what kind of puppy?"
The driver says, "this kind on my lap!" And hands us over a 2 month old pitbull lab mix!
Of course we're like omg puppy! And he's a sweet little pup. The driver said he was free if we wanted him. I'm a super frugal person so I thought that was a great deal.
My bf was more cautious and said we would think about it and call him. But of course, drunk me was not going to give up the pup. I thought it was out destiny to have him. So my bf said I would regret taking him in the morning, to which I said, "it's a puppy!"
That lyft driver was an evil genius because we did take him home. And yes I completely woke up and realized I had made a mistake. I work a full time job so I wouldn't be there to train. Plus after another night of getting up every few hours to let him outside, I knew I was not ready for a pup.
So we reached out to our friends and fam to see if anyone would be interested. My bf is a photographer so he took a really cute picture of the puppy. I put the pic of the pup without any captions on my snapchat and one of my friends immediately asked about him.
Her and her bf were actually looking for a little guy. I even gave her money for the first booster shots because I felt bad about making a quick decision. But it worked out so well in the end!
I see her snaps of him and her othet dog loves the puppy! They do outdoor stuff all the time so it's great seeing the little guy at a good home.
Anyway that just happened. Lyft and Uber drivers should not give puppies to drunk ppl. Haha
