#dog - #Help doing having seizures

Help doing having seizures

My mum recently adopted a rescue Siberian husky from a kennel. He's 3 years old and the sweetest character. Very bouncy, happy and loves to howl and lick. All around he's fitting into the family well. However, out of nowhere he had a seizure last night.

I don't live at home with my mum anymore, but visit often so I see him about 2 times a week. My mum called me stressed and asking for advice. I have a qualification in Animal care, but my course never went into much detail on seizures so I could only give her the bare minimum advice.

According to my mum the original owner had told the kennel he had seizures and was on medication for them that he'd need to take for the rest of his life. Now here's the stupid part which really angers me and makes no sense. The kennel turned around to tell my mother he never had a seizure the time he was there so they took him off his medication?!

Like I say I'm no expert on seizures especially in dogs, but I'm pretty sure if he wasn't seizing it's because the medication was doing it's job. So why on earth take him off it? I can only think they selfishly did this to cut costs but to put this beautiful dog at risk like that blows my mind.

We of course will be taking him to the vets and getting him back on his medication but while we wait for an appointment does anyone have any helpful tips and advice. Also if you have/had a dog with seizures how did/do you manage and care for them and the seizures.

Thank you in advance from me & my family.
