[HELP] Splinter Stuck In My Dog's Pallette

My dog has a bamboo stick lodged in between the roof of his mouth. The vet won't be able til tomorrow and they don't accept house check-ups, or emergency services. He eats well, but his breath seems to stink a little already; infections. I don't know what to do. We tried taking the object out of his mouth with pliers, but he struggled a lot and holding him still was impossible. I suspect it came from the night before and I'm worried that it might be permanently stuck. He doesn't seem to be bothered but it sure doesn't look pleasant.
