Your dog will surely enjoy this experience and it will be perceptible by the pleasant reactions of your sweetheart when you will take it to the best Langley dog groomer.
A dog and his pupcake.
So we rescued (at the time) 5 month old Husky/Shepard mix. He would do fine on walks and be next to his pack mate (8 YO purebred Husky rescue).
About two weeks ago, I was walking him and gardeners had a lawnmower going. He FLIPPED out. Pulled so hard, he would have pulled out of his leash if he didn't have a harness on him. I was able to walk him but they were turning into shorter walks because cars with tires on wet asphalt made him uneasy, then it was the UPS truck starting up. Well it turns into today where I can barely get him about 100 steps out of the house where he puts on the brakes and is almost choking himself to get back to the house.
We were hoping to have another runner on our hands (and even named him Miles) like our other one, but how have others handled dogs being scared outside and overcoming those fears?
I wrote those advice to someone who said she wanted a dog. And everyone seems to tell me that Im way off and that what I say makes no sense .
Im left...baffled by the reaction of people towards my advice and I wanted to know the opinion of actual professional .
Id like to know if my advice are good or not. Thanks for answering .
I shared the link to my post below but if you just want to see what I wrote and answer me here, this is a copy paste of my advice :
Dont forget you will need to walk them 1 to 3 hours per day, depending on breed and time available. 1 hour being the normal, 2-3 hours being luxury. If you dont walk your dog enough, he will develop problems. Attitude problems, because he will be bored and have tons of energy to spend . Really inform yourself before getting a dog. Keep in mind that they live anywhere between 7 to 25 years. ( 25 yrs is world record stuff but still, you never know )
https://www.petmd.com/dog/wellness/evr_dg_exercising_with_your_dog101 That includes touching poo, walking with a bag of poo, etc etc. If you are not willing to commit to that, I would suggest not getting a dog. While it sounds absurd to mention picking up after your dog, most people dont pick up after their dogs and it creates all kind of problems - https://www.petpooskiddoo.com/blog/top-10-reasons-why-people-dont-pick-up-dog-poop/
While its entirely okay to not have any money put aside when you get a dog, the best case scenario is to get around 1,000 to 2,000 in the bank for them in case of emergencies. Vet bills are extremely expensive. I had dogs for 7 years in the street and it never costed me nothing, and its entirely possible to never have to spend much on a dog, but why take the chance ?
https://www.moneyunder30.com/the-true-cost-of-pet-ownership In the dog food world ( of my region ) , the more expensive the food, the better it is. Grocery store dog food are cheap but crappy, usually the first ingredients are corn. Go to an animal store, or to your vet for dog food. For me it cost 200$ a month for 2 medium dog size that does a lot of exercise. Expect about 50$ for a small dog .
https://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/best-dog-foods/ Dont forget that you are taking care of a living animal, that has emotion and feelings. Its not a toy. You might take this offensive, but dont. I dont know you at all. Im saying this to someone I dont know. So keep in mind
