I an planning on getting myself a dog in about 4months. I have done research about breeds, needs, training and potential health problems regarding dogs in general. I have a years training as a dog trainer, provided by the army (though the training was for civilian use, not millitary/sharp). I am currently a student, and the dog I have decided on is a Miniature Schnauzer, due to several factors. I have always known that some companies are less trustworthy than other, and I know that for example in the dogfood-industry some people cut a lot of corners. I can remember Purina has gotten a bit of hate regarding low quality produce, but most names have slipped my mind even before I finish the sentence. I would like to provide the best possible life for my dog, and as such I would like to know what brands provide the quality needed, especially considering the price.
TL;DR My question is: What brands of food, toys, general dog things can be trusted (and gives you value for your money) ? And is there anything you see as a nesessity when it comes to dogkeep?

I have a wire haired dachshund that loves to roll in the grass. Problem is I'm moving into a carpeted apartment and I take her out at least twice/day. I know some people bathe/spot bathe their dogs after (seems labor intensive), or use those pre-moistened cleanser wipes (not economical). What do you do to keep your dog and apartment looking fresh on the daily?
