My tiny corgi died...

TLDR: I had a tiny corgi. Her name was Emma and she was 13 a month ago. She died today. I think it was preventable, had I been more concerned than I was. I was making vet appointments all morning for her, but on a recheck of her (after 10 mins of phone calls). She was gone.

The long version, as it were, is that I knew there was a problem for at least 2 months. I decided that it was just dietary, that she didn't like the food. I switched, and switched, then started to just cook foods for her that she loved.

Still weight loss.

I scheduled a vet appointment, But I live of the coast of Oregon, vet appts are hard to get. They had her booked a week from now.

3 days ago I took her to the beach. We were looking for glass floats that get placed by the city to increase tourism. She lagged way behind us. I thought it was a protest.

I basically had to drag her a 1/4 mile back to the car. Again I thought it was a protest, since she never liked getting messy or sandy. She hates waves.

It wasn't a protest, and there was something wrong. I didn't care enough to just drive her to the vet right then and there. I blamed her. I am an ass.

I didn't drive her to Portland and demand that the vet hospital see her. I assumed she was being difficult because we had been on her about under eating. I am an ass.

You can see the obvious holes in my reasoning, I hope. I waited too long for no reason. I let a creature I loved like my left eye languish till she died.

I am looking for some decent recrimination. Please don't sympathize or ask questions. Read this. Ask how I could be such an ass and then say so. Or don't. Regardless, the last thing I need is sympathy. I want peoples to tell me what a stupid, self centered ass I have been.

This post is a tiny vent. But it won't stop the boil, and it shouldn't. If you can criticize me for a moment I would appreciate it. If not, move on. Should be pretty easy, internets.
