coopers story. i stole a dog and i am not sorry
this is cooper. he used to be a rez dog. his mother belonged to a neighbor 3 houses down. she(mom dog was pit) would stop by everyday knowing we would give her some dog food and loves. she never stayed long, she always went home after she had eaten and we stopped petting her. ( she didnt look like she was being fed well, i normally dont feed random dogs out of respect for the owners) well, after two or three months we knew she was preggers and was about to have pups. after she had puppies, she stopped coming for 7 or 8 weeks. iam guessing all the litter mates were given away or what have you but 8 weeks or so later she came back with baby cooper. we fed him and her almost everyday for about 6 months.they would always be together, they would eat get loves and go home. well, during those 6 months i could see cooper was chewing on her teet and it became infected. at the end of 6 months you could tell she didn't feel good and that teet was swollen huge and sagging. well, she stopped coming one day and cooper didnt go home like he usually did. for about a month he quit going home in the day time and started in our yard until night time. then we noticed, for 3 days straight he slept by our back door. well, this concerned me so i went to go talk to his owners. i was curious of what happened to the mom dog. did she go to the vet and was inside healing up and they were separating cooper so she could heal?being nosy ol me, i knocked on their door and nobody was home by this time cooper wondered to the house next to his and was playing with a small Shepard mix. i called cooper and we went to leave when the little girl asked "is that your dog now?" i said no, i was bringing him back home. she looked saddened by this . (she had to have only been 9 or 10) agian, being nosy. i asked if she seen momma dog lately and the little girl replied (i shit you not, these are her exact words.) " they took her in the woods and shot her because she was sick" well, the girls mom comes out and asked what we were talking about (probably because my face was red and i was pissed) we told her and the mom tells me that they want to move because they hate seeing the sick stuff he dose to his dog in the front yard. she witnessed this guy kick baby cooper out of the house and off the porch. seen him take a baseball bat to him, seen him grab the scruff of his neck and throw him around. one time he burned him with a cigarette on the nose and that neighbor finally had seen enough and called animal control. they came over but he said cooper ran into his cigarette and got burnt. lady had no proof so he never got charged or had cooper taken away because he 'didn't look or act neglected" he is such a sweet baby and he was chubby because i fed him good dog food everyday. well...... she told me i should steal him if i love him because they obviously dont....so.... i did.... other neighbors walking by started to notice i had him and he listened to me to like had him for years. each person told me something messed up they seen that guy do to this dog. from holding him down and blowing drugs and cigarettes in his face to ear pulling, kicked him in the balls. everything. well, its been a month and he has not asked for his dog back and today i was outside throwing a ball for him( he used to cower down or run away when i threw a ball) his old owner walked by, my face got red and i called cooper to come by me expecting him to confront me. nope. not a word. he kept walking. cooper turned his back and wouldn't even look at him. want to hear the happy ending? yes cooper still has issues( probably from drugs? probably from abuse?) but he has never been hit agian. he stays in the yard even when hes not being watched. when we go on off leash walks he obeys my every word like its his lifes mission to please me.i know it will be a long road to total recovery but iam here for him now and will teach him how to love and trust humans.
