Question, flea and tick help!
Good morning everyone.
I need some help finding a working flea and tick product for my dog here in the US. She's an 11 year old lhasa apso. I've had her on Frontline Plus her entire life. However, we are moving to a heavily wooded area on 6 acres of property from a city. My dad took her out to the new house Thursday and we found a tick on her yesterday. The frontline evidently did nothing as the tick was so far inside her skin that a vet had to remove it with a blade.
It's upsetting spending $100s on Frontline when it simply failed to work and cost me $190 at the vet! Because of her age, he started her on 2 weeks of Doxycycline 200mg and we got her, her first dosage of the Lyme vaccine in which I need to bring her to her regular vet in 3 weeks for the next dosage. I would spend that money time and time again to help my girl, but I shouldn't have to when I already spend hundreds on FL! She now has such an awful wound that we have to clean it out multiple times a day!
Also, the vet here where we currently live (who we love and trust with her care) always recommended against the lyme vaccine since we live in a city.
Any advice from what you use and what works would be lovely!!!
