#dog - #Help with my newly acquired street-dog.

Help with my newly acquired street-dog.

Hello,

My family and I recently took in a street dog, he seems to be a treeing hound or beagle mix. In my searches online I also discovered "Harrier" dogs which may be what he is. He's bigger than a beagle but not as big as most the hounds I've seen. Though I have never had a hound of any sort. Anyway, the dog went into be neutered and had some serious swelling in his scrotal sack. Poor guy looked awfully uncomfortable. I iced him as required but we went back for further testing and got a few other medications including an anti inflamatory. He seems to be doing better gradually with that. However there are more issues with this dog. He also has to gain weight. I am looking for ideas on what can help him get some more meat on his bones. I did have some general tests done on him and he is heart worm positive so he has a 6 month supply which I will begin in January. I am hoping that once treatment begins it will help him to gain weight. Does anyone have suggestions on a good food or recipes to make him food - even table-scrap type things that may help this guy. He came to us in very rough shape. Thank you in advance!
