Advice on dog breed--Queensland, Akita, Mutt
Hi there! I am looking to adopt a puppy, and recently got in contact with a neighbor whose dogs accidentally reproduced. She says the dad is a collie/ mutt, and the mom is a collie/ queensland/ akita mix. Both parent dogs look really friendly, and the owners have kids, pups are socialized, etc.
I am just wondering if anyone has any advice regarding a pup of these mixes. I am extremely outdoorsy, and have a Border Collie/ Australian Shepard mix already. I know the Queensland and Akita can be somewhat aggressive. I will have this pup around kids and other dogs all of the time, from 8 weeks old.
I love ranch breeds, and prefer a high energy/ super smart dog. I am a little nervous about the Queensland/ Akita part, but feel like the pups may have enough of other breeds to be alright. I don't want a nippy or aggressive dog, but feel like with proper training and socialization, this would be a very smart and family friendly pet. Any advice from Queensland or Akita owners? Do you have them around kids? How to they behave? How much is nature, how much nurture? Any advice helps :) Want to make sure I am going to give the pup the proper home. I was looking for another Border Collie/ Australian Shepard mix, but this is a tough breed to find, and my dog needs a playmate like yesterday. Just kind of fell in love with one of these pups, and think I want to take the risk on these breeds I'm less familiar with.
EDIT: I also have a cat. Advice on that too...
