4 year old dog, new behavior - out of nowhere gets aggressive towards people in uniform??
My dog (Australian cattle dog mix, ~4 years old) has just recently started reacting aggressively towards some people in uniform, especially postal workers. His actions include barking, growling, and attempting to lunge towards them (I, of corse, hold him back). In his first three years, he's never done this. He's generally friendly to everyone. But in the past two months or so, he's randomly shown this new behavior towards uniformed people. I should note, it's not ALL people in uniform, just some. It seems pretty random. And I'll also note, they're not necessarily at my door. It's happened when we're just walking by someone on the street. (Just today, it occurred as a woman was unpacking boxes from the back of her truck at the end of our block).
Help!! How do I stop this behavior? And why did it start so randomly?!
