My dog is wonderful, damn near perfect and she's well trained in most respects but when the doorbell rings even the power of Christ can't compel the possession that overcomes her. Help.
She's a 4 year old Labrador mix rescue. We got her 3 years ago and she's great. Incredibly energetic, healthy and fit. She's pretty damn amazing. No accidents in the house and she listens when she's calm.
But, if anyone comes over, it's always as if "NOTHING IS GOING TO STOP ME FROM LOVING ALL OF YOU!". And, literally almost nothing can stop her. Everything that makes her great goes right out of the window and I can't figure this out.
Everything else so far is easy to train for. She sits, lays down, gets her bowl, gets her toys, goes to bed, stops and stays on demand but the moment anyone comes over, she flips out and stops listening.
How can we fix this short of locking her up when guest come over?
