Not a dog picture but advice would be nice?
I hope this isn't against the rules, I didn't see any rules disallowing this but I'm getting a dog at January and I'm very excited! I have had 4 family dogs that I took care of in my life, I work with animals for a living and I'm even going to go to school for vet tech.
But this is the first time I will own my very own dog and I want to make sure I'm not forgetting anything. I'm going to slowly get the items needed before adoption day. (yes I'm adopting a dog)
My question that I would like advice for is if I'm forgetting any items that I'm gonna list down that I will need for the little pupper.
*Food/water bowls *Toys *Leash *Harness (cause I'm getting a small dog and I don't want the pup hurting their neck during walks if they pull) *Shampoo *Brush *Tag *Collar *Toothbrush (FYI I live with my partner and he has a cat, love him to death but we had to pay up to 1000 dollars in vet bills because he got sick and his teeth needed serious cleaning, so I want to avoid dental cost if I can) *Dog treats (for training) *Squirt bottle (in case the pup does something bad, I think squirt bottles are pretty effective) *food. *Doggy bags
So I think that's everything I need, but maybe I missed something? I want to give my future tiny child a great life, so if I missed something that's important or even just advice about getting a cat who has never seen a dog to get along would be much appreciated.
P.s my partners cat is a literal definition to a scaredy cat, he's very shy and such a good and well behaved cat. My partner is nervous about my pup getting along with his cat and so am I. I want to give my dog a great life but I also want to give Vincent (the cat's name) a new friend that he can feel safe with and even play with. So if y'all have any advice that can help us, you will be helping 2 adopted animals lives get better and you will have our gratitude.
