Want to adopt dog but going home for holidays
So last week I met this perfect dog at an adoption event - she's a 9mo old Saluki mix (according to adoption group, she's only 25lb but has the longer legs and is a rescue from Kuwait). I've thought about her all week and went to see her again at their adoption event today. I fell more in love with her and put in an adoption application for her. However, I realized on the drive home that I'm leaving in 12 days to go to my parents' for the holidays. My family lives 10hrs away and I was planning to fly and not be back for two weeks. Is it unfair to the dog to adopt her now and either a) take her on this trip with me or b) board her after only having her a week and a half? I'm not sure if my parents will let her stay at their house (obviously I'll confirm with them). It is a no kill rescue organization, so I'm not worried about her getting euthanized if I don't take her. But I know if I wait she'll probably be adopted by someone else before I get back 😞
Any advice either way would be greatly appreciated.
