[Breeds] What Dog breed is right for me

I understand that individual dogs differ however I'm curious to see what dog breeds y'all think might suit me best. I'm pretty knowledgeable about majority of dog breeds as animals, dogs specifically are a passion for me and will be working with them in future.

However I think it's important to get other people's views before settling. I'm Australian too so breeders or rescue suggestions please, please let me know.

Introduction

1) Will this be your first dog? If not, what experience do you have owning/training dogs?

✓yes this will be my first dog since I was small however I'm not going into this blind.

2) Do you have a preference for rescuing a dog vs. going through a reputable breeder?

✓either is fine

3) Describe your ideal dog.

✓im a gal living by myself so having a watchful, loyal companion brings a piece of mind ✓dosent shed like their life depends on it haha moderate is fine ✓somewhat active(long walks, bit of hiking) ✓not overly popular ✓relitivly healthy breed

4) What breeds or types of dogs are you interested in and why?

Okay I know this is alot but these are the dog breeds I'm most knowledgeable about and u can see my dilemma when picking. Please leave any other suggestions :)

5) What sorts of things would you like to train your dog to do?

✓basics,(sit etc), agility, obedience, tracking, dock diving, flyball, lure coursing id like to try different things to see what he/she likes he most.

Care Commitments

6) How long do you want to devote to training, playing with, or otherwise interacting with your dog each day?

✓ and hour or two physical and mental stimulation I'll spend as much time as I can.

7) How long can you exercise your dog each day, on average? What sorts of exercise are you planning to give your dog regularly and does that include using a dog park?

✓dog parks, physical/mental stimulation roughly 1 hour

8) How much regular brushing are you willing to do? Are you open to trimming hair, cleaning ears, or doing other grooming at home? If not, would you be willing to pay a professional to do it regularly?

✓preferably a shorter coat but I don't mind, I'd so everything myself if possible

Personal Preferences

9) What size dog are you looking for?

✓medium to large

10) How much shedding, barking, and slobber can you handle?

✓shedding and barking should be kept to a minimum. Slobber i can work with.

11) How important is being able to let your dog off-leash in an unfenced area?

✓id like to have them of lesh sometimes so sighthounds, and scenthounds might not be ideal.

Dog Personality and Behavior

12) Do you want a snuggly dog or one that prefers some personal space?

✓snuggly

13) Would you prefer a dog that wants to do its own thing or one that's more eager-to-please?

✓border collie and malinos type of want to please is too much.

14) How would you prefer your dog to respond to someone knocking on the door or entering your yard? How would you prefer your dog to greet strangers or visitors?

✓i wouldn't like my dog to be very pleased about strangers being at my door if I'm honest. He will be socialized with people alike however protectiveness/watchful is somewhat important.

15) Are you willing to manage a dog that is aggressive to other dogs?

✓no. they will be well socialized as a pup to avoid that as much as possible.

16) Are there any other behaviors you can't deal with or want to avoid?

✓possesivness of food, wanderlust.

Lifestyle

17) How often and how long will the dog be left alone?

✓5-6 hours

18) What are the dog-related preferences of other people in the house and what will be their involvement in caring for the dog?

✓ I'm living by myself so me. My sister and parents will come by if I need them sometimes for walking or just checking up if I am unable. Such as life haha.

19) Do you have other pets or are you planning on having other pets? What breed or type of animal are they?

✓ nope

20) Will the dog be interacting with children regularly?

✓every now and then. My sister has children.

21) Do you rent or plan to rent in the future? If applicable, what breed or weight restrictions are on your current lease?

no

22) What city or country do you live in and are you aware of any laws banning certain breeds?

✓ Australia, yes iam.

23) What is the average temperature of a typical summer and winter day where you live?

✓summer 30 °C (86 °F). Winter 15 °C (59 °F)

✓ I do live in a apartment, I know it's okay I will provide appropriate exercise. ✓ raw feeding is something I'm interested in
