Dog is misbehaving after moving to a new state. Help!!!
My 9 year old chiweenie Zac who I've had since freshman year of high school is a great dog. However, he's starting acting out since we moved to a a new state. I thought I would be giving him an even better life here because I work less hours and there are tons of hiking trails we get to choose from when I'm not working. However, he's started pooping and peeing in the house even though there's a doggie door, and he whines nonstop when I leave. It's too cold here to leave him outside but I also can't have him trashing the house when I'm gone. This is all new behavior and it's only been a week so I'm hoping it will get better. I thought this would be a great move for us, and it still could be, but my stress has been through the roof because of my dog where he's only been a source of pure joy in the past. I don't want to leave him in a crate while I'm gone because he likes to be free. The dog door is a new thing for him though so I imagine that it's going to take a lot more time before he chooses to go out every time he wishes to use the bathroom. So frustrated in the meantime! Any advice?
