We had stray show up on our doorstep. It's a puppy, possibly lab mix. We have never owned a dog. We have a 4 year old chilc. We need information on finding a really cheap vet. We live in the houston area. Also have questions on the safety of a flea collar around my small child.
I'm looking for some anecdotal responses concerning compressed discs or head/spine injuries. Our Pom was riding shotgun laying down and my wife had to stop abruptly at low speed and he went head first into the dash. Immediately went to vet where he is on Manitol for swelling. Symptoms are weak legs and won't stand, though they will move and he responds to a small pain test. He is responsive and tired, but in good spirits I think. This morning, he got his front legs up underneath of him, and his back legs do that dog kicking thing when you scratch the right spot. No pain noticeable. They can give him steroids or NSAIDS if necessary, but the gold standard is an MRI and or surgery. He is 10 years old and probably doesn't have too much left time left for a $6K procedure. We are hoping he recovers on his own. Has anyone gone through anything similar with their dog? We are heartbroken. Thanks.
As a dog owner, living in condos and apartments with my bud and encountering breed restrictions, I'm curious to know the community's thoughts on "aggressive breeds."
Do you have preconceived notions of specific breeds of dogs, e.g.: pitbulls, chows, rotties? If so, are they from personal experience?
I am trying to confront my aversion to pits and chows and I'm curious to hear from other dog lovers.
Dogs are the most loyal and trusted friends but a small dog it's something more They love you without question and they will protect you no matter what. So if you want to find your small best friend and don't know what Breeds is for you? Open this article : http://ift.tt/2rdju6s and choose your beloved one.
So this breeder has been pretty difficult starting right after I sent her a quarter of the cost to reserve my puppy (golden doodle). She's snippy and just seems miserable all around, he is a bit over 5 weeks old now and I have had to pretty much hound her for a photo. This is the first photo she FINALLY sent, and I am wondering if anyone can tell me what is all over his fur and why does his nose look so crusty? She said that they are just working on weaning them off, is that related? I hope he's well, but I have to admit I am a bit worried.
I've been researching dog breeds for the past couple weeks, and wanted to reach out to see if anybody had any advice or recommendations on specific breeds.
I love dogs! I've never owned a dog myself, but have always wanted too, and am finally in a position where I'm able to.
About me: I live in an apartment complex in an urban area with a fairly big courtyard.
I have the flexibility to work home at least once a week, and my work is dog friendly so I'd be able to bring the dog in twice a week. So on average 2 days in a given week where the dog would be home alone for the majority of the day, but of course dog walks before and after. Regardless I can commit to at least 1 hour of walking or park time per day + in house games and mental training, and more on weekends.
Additionally I would definitely be taking dog training classes.
Dogs I've been looking at:
goldendoodle labradoodle shiba inu vizsla redbone coonhound great dane boxer
From my research I think the vizsla and coonhound may require more exercise than I can provide, and the shiba inu may be too difficult to train for a first time owner.
Any warnings on the dogs I'm considering? Any other dogs I should consider?
